The Apostle John began his gospel with a description of Jesus as “the Word made flesh”. He let us know that the Word (Jesus) has been since the beginning, and is, in fact, God himself (John 1:1). That’s rather difficult to wrap our mind around. The Word is also the means by which everything we see was created (John 1:3). As if that’s not enough, John continues his expounding of the role of the Word until he gets to chapter 1, verse 14. It is in verse 14 that we discover the function of the Word that should mean the most to you and me. He became flesh and dwelt among us.
This Sunday (12/5/10) in our 365 Church gathering we will discuss God’s purpose for sending the Word in flesh and blood, as well as what things this gracious act opened up for humankind.
In case you haven’t had the 365 experience yet, let me give you a preview as to what you should expect. We always begin with a time of fellowship, including food, because we put great value in fellowship. We also value worship, therefore, we always enjoy a time of worshipping God together in music. Next we allow time for God to speak to us through the written Word (the Bible). Something that we don’t do every week, however, will be doing this Sunday, is to enjoy a time of communion together.
Now that you know what to expect, be sure to join us.
Live. Grow. 365
